Are the GE Headquarters coming to Buckhead? Maybe.
Since the 1970s, the General Electric Headquarters was in Connecticut but recent corporate tax increases there have GE scouting for a new home. Last
week, Bloomberg News reported that GE may meet with developer Tishman Speyer Properties in the coming weeks to discuss space at Three Alliance Center (renderings pictured below). GE is considering other cities and isn’t close to an agreement, said undisclosed sources. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal spoke with GE officials this week after chief executive Jeff Immelt told employees he is considering a move.
Until we know for sure, here’s the latest statement from GE:
We have formed an exploratory team to assess the company’s options to relocate corporate headquarters,” GE said. “The team is currently engaged in the process and is taking many factors into consideration. When there is a final decision on relocation, we will communicate it publicly.”
With their energy management global headquarters in Cobb County, GE already has Georgia ties.
Three Alliance Center is under construction and will make a beautiful addition to the Buckhead skyline, ideally situated just off GA-400, easily accessible via MARTA (Atlanta’s light rail transportation), I-75, I-85, Lenox Road and Peachtree Road.
The 30-story signature office building contains 500,000 rentable square feet, and will be one of the premiere office towers in Atlanta. Three Alliance will feature Atlanta’s first faceted glass curtain wall system and 360-degree floor-to-ceiling windows.
The 30-story, 500,000-square-foot LEED Gold certified building, being constructed on one of Buckhead’s last remaining development parcels, will deliver by late 2016.
Let’s not forget the beautiful Buckhead views…
