One of Buckhead’s most treasured holiday traditions made its annual return on December 13 and 20 this year. Candlelight Nights, a festive homage to historical celebrations of Christmas, is fun for the whole family. The event featured an artist market in the lobby, vintage sleigh on display in the main hall, carolers, harp singers, holiday stories, traditional fireside cooking, jazz performances, candle-making, s’mores, handmade popcorn garlands, salt dough ornaments, and the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree which dates back to 1861.

A top-floor condo at the Saint Regis Residences located at 88 West Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead has sold for $13,995,000. The sellers were local entrepreneurs Lynn and Howard Halpern, and the purchaser was EHLO, LLC, an entity registered in Delaware which appears designed to mask their identity.

The condominium sold on Friday the 13th of December (a lucky day apparently) for exactly $2 million under the original asking price of $15,995,000. Despite the price drop, this is a record price for a condo in Atlanta. In fact, no other residential property since Tyler Perry’s Buckhead home on 17 acres sold for $17.5 million back in 2016 has sold for more. With 13-foot ceilings, five bedrooms and nearly 10,000 square feet, this was a truly impressive home high above the burgeoning Buckhead Village. The sale was brokered by Atlanta Fine Homes and Tavistock Buckhead Realty.

The Halperns originally purchased the condo in 2009 for $6.65 million. In 1983 they founded Buckhead Beef Company which grew into the largest privately held meat purveyor in the United States before selling to Sysco in 1999.

This sale, while certainly the exception and not the rule, is an indicator of the extremely healthy Buckhead luxury real estate market. Properties that represent the best in quality, style, and luxury are extremely desirable to buyers who are willing to pay a premium.
