As businesses in Buckhead reel from the impact of the Coronavirus which has essentially shuttered many companies for the time being, it may come as a surprise to learn that a major new development has recently been teased. Atlas Capital Ventures, under the leadership of Ty Underwood, recently announced a new 32-story development planned for a site formerly slated for Post Properties at the corner of Peachtree Road and Peachtree Dunwoody Road in North Buckhead.
The land was purchased for $8.9 million in February of 2019 and is located just a block away from Phipps Plaza and directly adjacent to the unrelated Ritz Carlton Residences that were built in 2009 and are also 32-stories tall. The proposed development is rumored to cost around $200 million. Timing is everything, but if things get back to normal soon, the developer is hoping to deliver 256 Ritz-Carlton hotel suites in addition to 75 custom private residences, and amenities such as a rooftop pool, dining, and spa services in the winter of 2022. The architect for this project is Perkins + Will with interior design by Rottet. At the time of this writing Atlas Capital Ventures has not responded to our requests for further information.
