The 2022 “State of Buckhead” survey is open for local opinions on such issues as crime, transit, parks and the cityhood movement.
Launched in 2020 by Livable Buckhead, the biannual survey is intended to inform the programs of that environmental-oriented nonprofit and three other closely allied organizations: the Buckhead Business Association, the Buckhead Coalition and the Buckhead Community Improvement District.
The 2020 survey found crime to be by far the top concern of roughly 2,400 respondents, and revealed a large population of pet dogs, which informed such efforts as dog parks. However, the survey was not conducted randomly and respondents skewed richer and more majority-white than the neighborhood as a whole.
The 2022 edition seeks input on a variety of new and proposed programs, including the highway-capping HUB404 park, the Buc on-demand van service, and Livable Buckhead’s idea of certain employers subsidizing $450 of employees’ rent to live in the neighborhood.
The survey asks respondents’ positions on the controversial issue of cityhood for the neighborhood and their main reason for supporting it if they do. Livable Buckhead and the three allied organizations oppose cityhood. Other survey issues include public safety tactics and commuting and work-from-home habits. The survey includes many demographic questions about race, gender, sexual orientation and household income.
Responses are anonymous, but anyone participating is eligible to enter a drawing for one of 10 $50 Visa gift cards. The response deadline is Sept. 25. Click here to take the survey.
