A 12-story apartment tower is proposed as the third phase of Camden Development’s rental housing redevelopment in Buckhead’s West Village.
The new “Camden Andrews” at 55 East Andrews would join the existing Camden Paces apartments and rental townhomes at 77 East Andrews, which began renting in 2014, and the Camden Buckhead apartment buildings that opened in 2020 at 3300 Roswell Road.
A plan filed with the City by Florida-based Camden last month calls for 341 apartments and 490 parking spaces in a two-level garage beneath the tower, which would stand between Ferry Landing Lane and Cains Hill Place. The proposed units by type include 41 studios, 204 one-bedrooms and 96 two bedrooms.
The plan calls for a “predominantly glass and masonry exterior” and a private rooftop terrace.
None of the units would be priced as affordable. Currently advertised rents start at nearly $2,400 a month at Camden Buckhead and over $2,000 at Camden Paces.
The developer is seeking an administrative zoning variation to exceed a 30-inch height limit on walls. The variation relates to some element of the parking structure that would be above-grade. The request is scheduled to be reviewed Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. in a virtual meeting of the Development Review Committee of Special Public Interest District 9, a special design-oriented zoning overlay in the area. The meeting can be accessed by clicking here.
A fourth phase may be on the drawing board, as the plan refers to a “future development to the east” on a triangular property at the East Andrews/Roswell intersection numbered as 25 East Andrews.
