Sarah Smith Elementary was founded in 1952. Since its inception, the school has maintained a reputation for academic excellence as part of the Atlanta Public School System, ranking consistently as one of Georgia’s top elementary schools. Sarah Smith is a Georgia School of Excellence and a National Blue Ribbon School. Additionally, the school is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School and has offered the Primary Years Programme since 2006. The Gifted and Talented Program at Sarah Smith offers qualifying students an opportunity to develop advanced communication, research, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

Sarah Smith Elementary is a dynamic school offering a consistent and rigorous instructional program for all students. The foundation for the programs is the Common Core Georgia Performance standards. Education is greatly enhanced and enriched far beyond basics by the Sarah Smith Education Foundation (SSEF) that provides curriculum support to the school administration in purchasing supplemental materials, teacher training and special programs for our students. “Anchored in Excellence” is the Sarah Smith motto, referring to the whole experience and curriculum plays a critical role in our success!
