The Fulton County Library System has announced increased curbside service for locations throughout the city including the Buckhead Library located in the Buckhead Village District at 269 Buckhead Avenue NE and the Northside location at 3295 Northside Parkway NW. These locations have been closed for renovations long prior to the Covid pandemic, and patrons are now able to reserve books and materials for curbside pickup at both branches Monday through Saturday.
Curious about how to do curbside pickup? It’s easy!
- Go online and place a hold on the materials you want and select the location for pickup.
- After you receive a notification via text or email that your items are ready for pick up, pull into designated curbside spots, and call the number on the sign to tell the library staff you are there.
- Present your library card to the employee through the closed window, pop your trunk or open your back door, and the materials will be placed into your car, contact free!
Walk up patrons will be asked to observe social distancing guidelines to receive their materials.
Books and media can be dropped off at designated book deposit boxes at any library location open for curbside services, and all materials will be quarantined for a minimum of 24 hours before they can be checked out by other patrons.
Also recently launched is the 100 Books Before College program where individuals, families, classes, and teams can register online and join the challenge to read 500,000 books before November 30, 2020. According to the website, 16,312 readers have already read 312,156 books!
If you’re interested in learning a new skill during lockdown check out the library’s Lynda.com function. All you need is your library card number and login to access tutorials and educational materials on a number of topics such as marketing, photography, design, business, and more. The Libby app allows patrons to listen to audiobooks and read ebooks, and you can also watch over 30,000 films through the Kanopy collection which features documentaries, kids movies, classics, and indie films.
