At the age of 18 he sold his established landscaping company to a competitor and set out to travel the world. His excursions led him to more than 40 countries, trekking to the Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal, floating down the Mekong River in Cambodia in a dugout canoe, diving in the Coral Sea, and driving with a random assortment of backpackers across New Zealand, Australia, and Africa.
