Ever since restaurant genius Ford Fry opened Superica at Krog Street Market in East Atlanta, my family and I have been hooked. It’s simply the best Mexican food I have ever had. We have braved 1/2-hour+ drives through Friday afternoon downtown traffic with two very hungry children on more occasions than I care to remember just to wait in line.
I’ve said good-bye to that frantic family hunger dash, because Buckhead now has it’s own Superica (“super-eek-a”)! The super-cool “Mex-Tex” restauraunt serves reinvented Texas favorites such as tacos & fajitas, but with a fresh gourmet twist. Fry is the restauranteur behind ;JCT. Kitchen, No. 246, The Optimist, King + Duke, St. Cecilia, Marcel Steakhouse and BeetleCat. The new Superica replaced a former Outback Steakhouse (quite an upgrade) in the Chastain Park neighborhood at 3850 Roswell Road.
I was among the first in line. Here are some photos of the space at 3850 Roswell Road in Buckhead, a favorite Buckhead neighborhood of Fry’s…
“Chastain Park has a great neighborhood vibe and it’s such an active community,” Fry said in a prepared statement. “I love the music aspect with all the great concerts at the park.”
And like the original Superica at Krog Street Market, the new Buckhead location hosts live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
