On Thursday, October 4, the fifth annual Rock Chastain benefit concert will light up the stage at the State Bank Amphitheater. The concert’s headliner 10,000 Maniacs, a popular alt rock band from the 1980s made famous in the days of MTV and VH1, will grace the stage and play songs from the entirety of their career. Given that the band once lived in Atlanta for a short time this concert is somewhat of a homecoming for the musicians.
Also performing are Vegas-based classic rock tribute band Yellow Brick Road and local favorites Dreambrother and Pony League. The concert is a benefit for Chastain Park which at 268 acres is the largest park in Atlanta and one of Buckhead’s most treasured gems. The Chastain Park Conservancy will use the funds raised to restore, enhance, maintain, and preserve the park, which sees more than 2 million visitors each year.
The Chastain Park Amphitheater hosts dozens of open air concert series through the summer and fall each year. In the month of October they will have performances by RBRM: Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky & Mike with Case and Kid Capri, Maxwell, and Lauryn Hill with special guests.
