The historical beacon Buckhead knows and loves, The Swan Coach House, is a delightful experience. Once the garage of the Swan House Mansion, it has stood the test of time with incomparable whimsy, abounding charm and countless traditions made.
Run by The Forward Arts Foundation, (founded on September 21, 1965 as a non-profit organization by 12 visionary and community-minded Atlanta women), these dedicated art patrons made the carriage house of the Edward Inman estate, Swan House, their home. Before vehicles, Henry Ford’s gift to humanity, a “Coach” was the main method of transportation. The four-wheeled carriages were pulled by two or more horses controlled by a coachman. A “Coach” or “Carriage” House described the place where the horses and carriage lived while off-duty.

The Foundation ladies then renovated the carriage house creating a Restaurant (with their own recipes as well as their personal silver and china), Wedding Venue, Gift Shop and Art Gallery and opened in 1967.
Sterling mini muffin baskets are presented along with a fruit-infused spread which melts into the homemade zuchinni, banana, and blueberry breads. Their signature dish, The Swan’s Favorite, has two scoops of chicken salad inside heart-shaped cones accompanied by cheese straws and a slice of the refreshing frozen fruit salad. Most plates come garnished with fresh purple orchids, and there are always fresh roses from the garden on the tables.
